Suspicious items secured during traffic stop along I-80

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating suspicious items found during a traffic stop which shut down one lane of I-80 westbound at Mogul.

According to Bob Harmon with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, a K9 unit along working with the Northern Nevada Interdiction Task Force made a traffic stop around 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 12. A deputy noticed suspicious items inside the vehicle, and as a precaution, shut down the right hand lane of I-80 westbound while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team investigated.

The items were secured and the interstate was back open within five minutes.

No injuries were reported.
