Free meals offered to veterans for Veterans' Day

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - APPLEBEE'S: Applebee's Neighborhood Grill + Bar® restaurants throughout northern California and Nevada will celebrate the 10th anniversary of honoring America’s veterans and active-duty military by offering them a free meal on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017.

“We look forward to welcoming local veterans and active-duty military at Applebee’s on Saturday, November 11 for a free meal,” said Donna Malmlov, Regional Marketing Coordinator, Apple American Group. “Listening to their incredible stories and getting to meet the American heroes in our neighborhood makes this day extra special and is why year after year, we are honored to participate.”

In order to receive a free meal on Saturday, November 11, 2017, guests need to provide proof of military service, which includes: U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.

ATLANTIS CASINO RESORT SPA: Atlantis Casino Resort Spa invites our nation’s heroes to Toucan Charlie’s Buffet & Grille on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11 for a complimentary champagne brunch. The Reno High School JROTC will open the buffet at 8 a.m. with a special presentation of the colors, and the brunch buffet closes at 3 p.m. Veterans must be Club Paradise members and show retired military ID, DD-214, or military spouse ID to receive a complimentary buffet. CARSON VALLEY INN: The Carson Valley Inn is serving a free spaghetti lunch for all veterans and active military members – plus one guest each – on Veteran's Day, Saturday, November 11 in the Valley Ballroom. The Douglas High School Jr. ROTC Honor Guard will do the Presentation of Colors at 11 a.m. and Kimora Whitacre will sing the National Anthem. Lunch service will begin immediately after and continue until 2 p.m. Veterans and active military personnel simply present your military ID for entrance, and lunch for you and your guest is on the Carson Valley Inn! If you don't have your ID, just tell the host about your service to our country and they’ll welcome you anyway!

DORINDA'S CHOCOLATES: Saturday, Veterans Day, the founder of Rolled Mountain Creamery and Marine veteran Dillon Vance will be giving out free ice cream to all veterans and active duty. Dillon himself will be rolling ice cream at the 727 Riverside Drive store, inside Dorinda's Chocolates, but both Dorinda's Reno locations will offer free ice cream with valid ID from noon-6PM.

ELDORADO/SILVER LEGACY: The Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus Reno are truly grateful for all of those who have served or are currently serving our country. In appreciation, veterans November 11 can enjoy a free breakfast or lunch buffet at The Buffet at Eldorado or Flavors! the Buffet at Silver Legacy.

Breakfast is 7:45 a.m.-11 a.m. and lunch is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A valid military ID will be required.

The exterior of Circus Circus will be lit in red, white and blue to commemorate the day.

SQUEEZE IN: Local family-owned restaurant Squeeze In is stepping up in a big way to support and thank all members of the military this Veterans' Day.

Since 2004, Squeeze In has served free meals to thousands of military personnel in a show of appreciation for military service. This year the Squeeze In is determined to serve veterans for two full days, knowing the federal holiday is Friday November 10, while the actual day of recognition is Saturday, November 11.

“Veterans and our active duty service members have given us so much,” said Shila Morris, President and Co-Owner of the Squeeze In.

“It’s our honor to gladly show appreciation to those who have dedicated themselves to our country, our freedoms, and our way of life.”

November 10 and 11, all Squeeze In locations will provide free meals to any member of the military. This includes all five family-owned restaurants in Truckee, Reno, Sparks, Las Vegas, and Redwood City and Modesto, California.

Steve Hatcher, an 8-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Squeeze In Director of Franchising says, “It’s really great to work for a company who values veterans the way Squeeze In does - not just the veterans employed here, but each and every one of them that comes in our doors.”

Squeeze In is open daily from 7am-2pm.

STEAK 'N SHAKE: Local Steak 'n Shake locations will serve free meals to dine-in veterans Saturday, November 11 from 6:00am -11:00am. Locations: 470 South Meadows Pkwy & 1140 North Hills Blvd.

TEXAS ROADHOUSE: Reno’s Texas Roadhouse invites veterans and active members of U.S. military to enjoy FREE lunch Saturday, November 11. For the seventh year, every Texas Roadhouse location across the country will participate in the free lunch event to honor the men and women of our armed forces.

All veterans - including all active, retired or former U.S. military - can choose one of 10 entrees, including a 6-ounce sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, sweet tea/ice tea or coffee during lunch. Proof of service includes military or VA card, or discharge papers.

Hours are 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m at 150 Damonte Ranch Parkway in Reno.
