Police say about 3PM November 11, suspect Jerry LaForge met with suspect Evan Jacob and a third person in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 615 E. Lincoln Way. Four more people were there, but police say they were not directly involved in the shooting.

Following a short discussion, Jacob and the third person walked away from LaForge, and got into a vehicle parked a short distance away. LaForge approached Jacob and the third person, whose name has not been released, leading to an argument. Police say LaForge and Jacob both drew handguns and began firing at one another.

That's when Jacob drove away from LaForge, hitting several parked vehicles in the complex as LaForge continued firing, according to police. The third person was hit and treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Multiple apartment buildings were also hit. No bystanders were hit or injured by gunfire.

Officers found all three involved people and detained them. Based upon the initial investigation, LaForge was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Battery W/ Deadly Weapon and Discharging a Gun into Occupied Vehicle. Jacob was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Assault W/Deadly Weapon, and Discharging a Gun Within a Vehicle.

This case remains under investigation, but police say there no outstanding suspects and the incident does not appear to be gang-related.

Anyone with information concerning this case is urged to call Sparks Police Detectives at 775-353-2225 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
