SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - Local authorities are asking for the community's help to solve two January killings as the year anniversary of the murders approaches. Detectives say they have exhausted leads, and they still need to identify a car and the people connected to that car.

Secret Witness is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect or suspects.

Early the morning of January 21, 2017, police responded to a report of shots fired in the 2600 block of Cygnet Circle. They found several shell casings, but were unable to located anyone involved. A few minutes later, dispatch received a 911 call from a man reporting he had been involved in the shooting and his friend had been killed.

19-year-old Saul Garcia was found dead, the investigation showing two groups of people had exchanged gunfire while in separate vehicles; resulting in Garcia’s death.

Patrol and Detective divisions following leads, including traveling to other states, which did not lead to any arrests.

Police say all the people at the scene when Garcia was killed have been interviewed; but they believe there is more information the witnesses may know, or there are other people who know what happened.

The killing is believed to be connected to another death, that of 19-year-old Edgar Rodriguez, around the same time in northeast Reno.

Sparks Police and Garcia’s family are asking anyone with information about the events from January 21, 2017 to come forward in person at the Police Department or via Secret Witness, at 775-322-4900 or go to www.secretwitness.com.
