Sparks Councilman Smith running for Mayor

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - Sparks City Councilman Ron Smith has announced he is running for Mayor of Sparks in the 2018 election.

Smith is serving a third term on the Council, and will run to succeed Mayor Geno Martini, who is not running for re-election.

Martini says, “Ron Smith has put in the work and has the experience to lead our city for the next four years. Ron also has the overwhelming support of the rest of the City Council.”

In addition to his Council responsibilities, Smith serves as the Chairman of the Truckee Meadows Flood Authority, Chairman of the Regional Transportation Commission, and Chairman of the Tourism and Marketing Committee, and he is a member of the Truckee Meadows Water Authority.

Smith also works for High Sierra Industries, which works with people with disabilities.

Smith has served as Mayor Pro-Temp for several years, and is the Director of the Nevada Veterans Memorial that will be built at the Sparks Marina.
