SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KOLO)-- The South Lake Tahoe Police Department arrested a South Tahoe Middle School student Friday after he allegedly made threats to bring a gun to a middle school dance scheduled for Friday night.

Police did not release the juvenile’s name, but he was booked into the El Dorado Juvenile Treatment Center on a felony count of making criminal threats.

The school told police that the boy was making threats to bring a gun to the dance. Police searched the boy’s home and police do not believe he had access to guns.

Police said they arrested the boy due to the nature of threats and the other students placed in fear by the threats.

Police warned threats like this would not be tolerated and praised girls who were strong enough to report the threats.
