TWIN BRIDGES, Calif. (KOLO)-- The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a Sacramento-area snowboarder who died Thursday after colliding with a snow fence.

Sierra At Tahoe Communications Manager Thea Hardy said the accident happened 1:15 p.m. December 7, 2017. 23-year-old David Karlin was on the Lower Snowshoe Trail, considered an intermediate trail, going at a high speed when he fell and slid several feet off the trail into the snow fence where the Upper Sugar and Spice Trail meets the Snowshoe Trail, Hardy said.

He was not wearing a helmet, Hardy said.
