SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - A construction crew started a fire along Pyramid Highway Tuesday, according to Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.

The fire was reported about 11:30AM July 10, 2018 in the hills near the Summit Christian Church, just below a water tank. It grew to about a quarter acre before being doused.

TMFPD spokesman Adam Mayberry tells KOLO 8 News Now construction workers were using a grinding wheel, and sparks went into cheat grass. They had an extinguisher and shovels, but the fire went too fast for them to catch it.
