RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A sewage leak has been contained to a shopping center parking lot in northwest Reno at West Seventh Street and McCarran Boulevard, the Reno Fire Department said.

The sewage began flowing out of a manhole about 7 p.m. December 22, 2017 in the 4500 block of West Seventh Street east of McCarran Boulevard, suggesting it was from a backup and not from a broken pipe, Battalion Chief Mark Winkelman said.

It has not left the parking lot and the fire department cordoned off the area so vehicles could not drive through it.

Officials from the city of Reno sewer and environmental departments are also on scene.
