Seven controlled burns planned for Lake Tahoe area

TAHOE CITY, Calif. (KOLO)-- The Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team notes there will be seven controlled burns in the Lake Tahoe area beginning Monday. About 106 acres are involved in the burns.

Four are on the Nevada side of North Tahoe:

Diamond Peak Ski Resort Tirol Drive area will have about 25 acres with hand piles burned.
The Champagne Road area will have hand piles over 9 acres burned.
The end of Dale Drive and the east side of the First Creek Drainage will have about an acre of hand piles burned.
The West First Creek area will have hand piles over 25 acres burned.

Three are on the California side of Lake Tahoe:

At California 28 and Rocky Ridge Road there will be about 30 acres of piles that will be burned over three weeks.
At California 89 and Lester Beach Road there are piles over about 8 acres that will be burned over two weeks.
At the city of South Lake Tahoe Airport there are 8 acres of hand piles that will be burned over five days.
