Search over for wanted suspect in Washoe Valley, suspect in custody

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office search for a wanted suspect in Washoe Valley is over, the suspect has been arrested.

The search started around 10:30 Wednesday, February 15th 2017, on west side of Washoe Valley, in the hills above Davis Creek.

Raven and K-9 units assisted in the search effort.

Washoe County Sheriff's Office PIO, Bob Harmon, tells us the originally incident happened last night, Tuesday February 14th 2017, around 9:30 pm at a house in New Washoe City.

Deputies were called to the home on a report of domestic violence, by the time deputies arrived at the home the suspect, Carlos Mendoza, had left the home and disappeared into the hills.

Harmon says deputies deemed Mendoza not a threat to the public and decided to continue the investigation this morning.

Harmon says they had had probable cause to search for him because of a possible domestic violence charge.

Mendoza faces possible charges for domestic battery with strangulation and misdemeanor destruction of property.
