GARDNERVILLE (KOLO)-- A Reno man died after a Wednesday crash on U.S. 395 in the area of Jakes Hill south of Gardnerville, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.

Donald David Chisholm, 69, was driving north in a Ford Fusion just north of China Springs when the Fusion went off the road to the right and Chisholm overcorrected to the left, the NHP said. He lost control of the vehicle and it went into the path of a southbound 2003 Ford Expedition, which collided with the Fusion, the NHP said.

Chisholm and a female passenger were taken by medical helicopter to Reno where Chisholm died. The female passenger had serious injuries. The Expedition driver was taken to a Reno hospital via ground ambulance and that driver’s condition was not available.

The NHP said the three occupants of both vehicles were not wearing seatbelts.

Anyone who has information about the crash is asked to contact Trooper Garretson at 775-688-2500 or about NHP case #170201363.
