SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - The Sparks Marina will host the inaugural Northern Nevada International Dragon Boat Festival August 19.
The inaugural Northern Nevada International Dragon Boat Races
Registration is now open, both for teams or for individuals who want to participate.
A dragon boat team consists of 20 paddlers, along with an oarsman to steer. You do not need any experience to participate, only a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
The Sparks event will be part of the MLDB series which hosts dragon boat events across the U.S. and Canada.
Even if you're not participating on a team, there will be plenty to see and enjoy at the festival.
The registration cost increases June 1. For more information, go to GWNDragonBoat.com.
The festival will also be a charity benefit for Immunize Nevada.
