Post-Christmas travel expected to be heavy

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) More than 100 million people are traveling for the holidays this year. Most getting to their destinations before Christmas Day, but for some the unexpected flight delays altered their plans.

"We got stuck in Portland," Mckenzie Conner says. She and her sister Morgan were supposed to be in Reno by noon on Christmas Day but were delayed several hours.

"We made the most of it," Morgan Conner says. The sisters watched Christmas movies on their cell phones to help pass the time.

Even though December 24 and 25 aren't typically busy travel days, the Conner's delay goes to show that travelers need to be prepared for anything.

The day after Christmas, December 26, is expected to have more than six million people traveling by plane. That's up four percent from last year.
