Man identified in fatal Gardnerville crash

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (KOLO) - The Nevada Highway Patrol says a man who was hit and killed in Gardnerville was lying in the road before he was hit.

54-year-old Rosendo Ramirez Amaya of South Lake Tahoe was hit around 8:00 p.m. Sunday September 17, 2017, on the northbound side of US 395 at Industrial Way in Gardnerville.

Nevada Highway Patrol says the driver of a 1998 Toyota Sienna minivan hit Amaya who, for unknown reasons, was lying down across the right lane of northbound US 395. The driver of the minivan was unable to avoid hitting him.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Dan Gordon says the driver of the minivan remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
