RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Sprouts Farmers Market will hold its grand opening at 7:00 a.m. Workers have been busy preparing to make sure it's good to go when customers arrive.
"We are putting the final touches on," says Ryann Haenel, Sprouts Farmers Market Regional Marketing Manager.
While the market will have all the departments you would expect to find, Sprouts Farmers Market focuses on trying to make it feel like a farmers market inside. Sprouts officials say more than ninety percent of its products are natural and organic.
"Sprouts is a healthy and fresh-focused grocery store," says Haenel. "We really try to differentiate ourself from the traditional grocery through selection, quality and value prices. Farm fresh produce is really our main focus."
While the grocery chain has more than 275 stores around the country, this will be the first in Northern Nevada. The store is on South Meadows Parkway in the South Meadows Promenade, not far from I-580. The shopping center is so new, buildings for other businesses there are still being constructed. People who live in the area say the opening couldn't come at a better time.
"Good for the economy. Good for Reno's growing economy," says Majid Dow, a south Reno resident.
The store isn't just giving people who live in the area another grocery options; it's bringing jobs. Sprouts was looking to hire about 100 people, but it ended up bringing on 135. And it's not quite done.
"We're always looking for new people to come through," says Haenel. "We're just always looking to expand our customer service, making sure everyone has a place here in our culture at Sprouts."
Sprouts will have special deals for its grand opening.
