TRUCKEE, Calif. (KOLO) Kitchen Collab is the first collaborative culinary work space in the Truckee-Tahoe region. The space is designed to help culinary entrepreneurs launch their own businesses.
Founder and director Alex Tolger says the need stemmed from starting his own food truck.
"As my dream of a food truck became larger and larger, I saw that this was more of a necessity," he says.
Kitchen Collab has three hotlines, eleven work spaces, a walk-in-cooler, rotisserie, worktop, smoker, bread oven and a blast freezer.
Tolger says it can cost more than $500,000 to get started in the food and restaurant industry and Kitchen Collab seeks to help mitigate some of those challenges.
"We're trying to set up a position where people in the area who have the skills and the passion or desire can find a way to take that passion and start a business with it," Tolger says.
Membership includes full access to the facilities 24/7, event space, a tasting room and office space. Tolger says members also have access to purchase supplies at wholesale prices.
