Mt. Rose Highway back open after serious injury crash

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - One person suffered serious injuries after a a crash on the Mount Rose Highway at the interstate 580 interchange just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The male driver is expected to live.

Traffic was slowed in the area for more than 90 minutes but all lanes are open again, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.

One vehicle was involved in the accident after crashing into a pole that holds a traffic light. The Nevada Highway Patrol said speed appears to be a factor.

First responders had to use the jaws of life to extricate the driver.
