RENO, Nev. (KOLO) For 18 years, Moms on the Run has helped more than four thousand women fight cancer.
“It's sad that there are that many diagnosed, but we are happy to be here to help and alleviate it for them so they don’t have to worry about their finances," said Barbara Pinocchio, one of the founders.
The annual 5K allows the non-profit to raise funds to help women impacted by cancer. The 5K took place at the Foster Field parking lot at Reno High School
Moms on the Run is a non-profit organization raising funds to assist Northern Nevada women with everyday living expenses to help offset medical expenses incurred while in treatment for breast and gynecological cancers.
"About a week and a half ago, I had my scans all clear, cancer free, and it's exciting you know, cause you get that diagnosis, you’re scared and horrified but then people rally around you; then you put a foot in front of the other and you make it through," said Grecie Zahrt, breast cancer survivor.
