SUGAR BOWL RESORT, Calif. (KOLO) - A snowboarder at Sugar Bowl Resort was found safe early Friday after being missing for more than 12 hours.

Sergeant Dave Hunt with the Placer County Sheriff's Office says the snowboarder was reported missing around 11 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018.

Sgt. Hunt says 22-year-old Jillian Mueller of Groveland was boarding with two friends who were not as advanced before she decided to go off by herself around 1 p.m. He says a search and rescue effort was not initiated until 1:30 a.m. Mueller was located out of bounds on the backside of the resort by Care Flight just before 7 a.m. Friday.

Crews say Mueller was found without any apparent major injuries, but she was tired, cold and hungry.
