BRIDGEPORT, Calif. (KOLO) - The driver killed in a rollover on US 395 south of Bridgeport, California has been identified as a man from Carson City.
It happened Friday, February 23, 2018 around 7:15AM.
The California Highway Patrol says Juan Alvarado-Zavala was driving a GMC pickup south on US 395. As he passed Green Creek Road, he came upon a slower car, forcing him to hit the brakes. Investigators say Alvarado-Zavala lost control on the snow-covered road and rolled. His truck came to rest upside down in Virginia Creek.
Two passengers escaped as the truck started to fill with water. Alvarado-Zavala was rescued by the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department and was taken to Mammoth Lakes Hospital, where he died.
The CHP says drug impairment was not a factor in this crash. It is still under investigation.
