WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Long Valley Fire has burned 83,733 acres, or about 131 square miles, as of Wednesday evening. It is about 71% contained.

Pyramid Highway, SR 445, is back open after being closed in both directions just north of SR 446 because the fire was headed toward the Sutcliffe area. An evacuation advisory has been lifted for that community.

The fire is not expected to grow and showed minimal activity on Wednesday with smoldering and torching inside the burned area.

People in or around the fire area are advised to constantly monitor the situation, and be prepared to evacuate when advised. Residents are advised to be packed with a go-bag with important documents, identification, clothing, and any special needs.

In the event of evacuation, the Nixon Gym will be the evacuation center at 301 Highway 447.

The fire started July 11, 2017 near Doyle, Calif., and burned into the north end of Spanish Springs Valley toward Pyramid Lake.
