RENO, Nev. (KOLO) The final few days before Christmas always has last-minute shoppers rushing to get holiday gifts. This year shoppers have an extra weekend because Christmas lands on a Monday.
"I think it gives people a sense of security that they have a couple more days," Amy Robinson, owner of Savvy Boutique, says.
She says the extra time makes big difference for her business. Reno Running Company store owner Matthew Balzer says he has extra staff ready for the final holiday rush.
"We staff heavily on the weekends and as far as merchandise, we are always fully stocked this time of year," Balzer says.
According to the National Retail Federation, 53 percent of consumers across the nation are planning to do their holiday shopping the final weekend before Christmas.
Assistant manager at DeVons Jewelers Darrin Cody says traffic has been building up this holiday shopping season.
"It's always nice to have one final weekend before the Christmas holiday and we are definitely looking forward to it," Cody says.
Yogapod opened its doors in December 2016 and program manager, Angie Fraley, says they're expecting more customers than usual.
"The mall itself will be busy and hopefully we'll be able to be a part of that and we'll just be able to give the gift of health," she says.
