Demolition of the Kinkead Building in Carson City.
The former state office was originally built in 1975, but it has been vacated since 2005. Since 2011, first responder agencies have been using it for training.
The Nevada Public Works office says the concrete removed from the site will be recycled for use on local roadways and the metal will be sold to local recycling companies.
While demolition is underway, traffic is blocked off around the building on S. Valley Street as well as on E. King Street and E. 2nd Street.
