RENO, Nev (KOLO) -- Only one more day until Hot August Nights cruises out of the Reno-Sparks area. But before that happened, one veteran found out you ask and you shall receive.
A veteran at the VA hospital made a comment to an employee that it would be nice if Hot August Nights classic cars would come to the hospital.
A veteran called KOLO 8 News Now’s newsroom and we posted the message on our Facebook page.
The Northern Nevada’s chapter of Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals picked up the ball and ran with it.
Saturday evening for an hour, 12 classic cars arrived at the VA hospital. Veterans posed for photos and spoke to the car owners about their cars.
Will Process helped put it together and he says it wasn't hard to string together 12 cars on a last-minute notice.
"I'm proud that we could get as many cars here and get as many people as we could. The smiles on the veterans' faces and the tears in their eyes was definitely worth it," said Will Process, Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals.
Process says he wants to make this an annual event. He spoke with the people at the hospital and plans to talk to the Hot August Nights organizers to make sure it's okay with them.
If they can’t make it happen, he wants to take cars to the hospital anyway, so the veterans see them.
