'Holiday Crawl Benefit 2017' raises money for a popular program

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) -- The Carson City community put on “Holiday Crawl Benefit 2017” to raise money for the “Holiday with a Hero” campaign.

Several hundreds of people attended the charity event in Downtown Carson City.

Last year the crawl raised about $10,000 and that was the same goal this year.

The “Holiday with a Hero” campaign allows more than 200 underprivileged children to receive a $100 gift card to go on a shopping spree at Walmart with usually a member of the military, the fire department, sheriff's office or a member of the community.

"This is giving back, this is the whole thing about being Carson Strong. This is a great example of that," said Sgt. Daniel Gonzales, Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

This year's “Holiday with a Hero” is on December 20th, 2017.

If you want to donate, you can do so by getting in touch with the Carson Fire Department or the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
