Great Reno Balloon Race returns for 36th year

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) An event that is always a favorite of locals, the Great Reno Balloon Race is back for its 36th running.

Happening Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, the event is the world's largest free hot air balloon festival with nearly 100 balloons.

Some of the special shape balloons back in 2017 are Darth Vader, Yoda, American Rocket, Smokey Bear, the Wells Fargo Stagecoach, "Pepe Le Pew," from Looney Tunes.

The glow show will kick things off just after 5 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, followed by the Dawn Patrol at 5:30, and mass ascension of the balloons at 7 a.m.
