Gift cards and Christmas cash boost business

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) It's December 26, but that doesn't mean the holiday shopping frenzy is over just yet. Stores are filled with shoppers looking to spend Christmas money and gift cards.

"So many people coming in with gift cards and it's not just exchanges, so it's good for business," Allison Brasher, manager at the Buckle, says.

Business has been booming for many stores, like Reno Running Company.

"A lot of people come in for footwear for the new year," Noah Reynolds, manager at Reno Running Company, says. "It's been rather busy throughout the day. Pretty consistent."

Thousands of shoppers hit up places like The Summit and Meadowood Mall to get their retail therapy.

Shopper Joshua Gurlay says he's using the money and gift cards he got for Christmas to get what he wants.

Natasha Bayt owns Natasha's World Jewelry and she says the customer traffic has been steady.

"I think a lot of people are coming in with gift cards and some Christmas money that they want to spend," Bayt says.
