RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - You protect your pipes and your plants during these cold temperatures, but what about your garage door? It can actually freeze shut.
'George and Sons Garage Doors' says it is actually pretty common in our area right now. It typically happens when we get snow -- it melts, then freezes to the door overnight.
So what should you do to keep this from happening?
Christopher George with 'George and Sons' has some ideas: "There are different ways. Some people leave their garage door a little floated off the ground. Some people put de-icer on there, but with rubber being the bottom seal you have to be careful of what you put on there because it could deteriorate the bottom seal."
He says you can also buy a seal to prevent melted snow from freezing the bottom of your garage door. For more information click here.
