Firefighters climb stairs today for leukemia research

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - Sparks Fire Department firefighters will climb stairs Saturday, January 27 to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

From 10AM-2PM at Scheels in Sparks, firefighters in full turnouts will climb 70 flights, which is 1356 steps. They are raising money to go to the national Stairclimb Fundraiser in Seattle March 11.

To help, the public can donate on the spot at Scheels Saturday. There will be a booth and someone taking donations. That's specifically for the team from Sparks Fire.

The team has to raise $300 per firefighter on its own before going in March, so this will go toward that goal.
