Progress made fighting two large fires near Winnemucca

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (KOLO) - The MM 155 Fire southwest of Winnemucca in Pershing County is 22,361 acres as of Thursday morning and 90-percent contained, the Bureau of Land Management reports.

83 personnel are fighting the fire. BLM says most crews and resources are being reassigned to higher-risk fires.

There are no current evacuations connected to the fire, which started about 2:30 p.m July 14, 2017.

A separate but nearby fire, the Grass Valley Fire in the Sonoma Range in the Grass Valley area of Pershing County, about 16 miles south of Winnemucca, has burned about 11,590 acres and is 50% contained as of Thursday.

Two unoccupied structures have been lost, and other structures are threatened.

The cause has not been determined.
