WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (KOLO) - The MM 155 Fire in Pershing County is fully contained at 22,360 acres, or about 35 square miles, the Bureau of Land Management reports.
The fire, named after a highway mile marker, started July 14, 2017. Investigators say a cigarette butt led to that fire.
It started about 22 miles southwest of Winnemucca.
A separate but nearby fire, the Grass Valley Fire in the Sonoma Range in the Grass Valley area of Pershing County, about 16 miles south of Winnemucca, has burned about 11,590 acres and is also fully contained. That fire burned about 18 square miles.
Two unoccupied structures were lost, and other structures were threatened. Investigators say a vehicle led to the fire.
