FERNLEY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on I-80 in Churchill County.

According to Sergeant Meeks, the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. November 14, 2017 near mile marker 75, about 30 miles east of Fernley.

Meeks says the pedestrian was on the interstate when hit by the car. He say the driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with troopers. Right now it is unclear why the person was in the road or if alcohol or other drugs are factors in the crash.

Both eastbound lanes were closed overnight during the investigation but have since reopened.
