RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - An emergency hearing is scheduled for Friday morning for Richie West.

West has been taken to a hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition. Tuesday, Washoe County Sheriff’s deputies found him unresponsive and lethargic in his cell.

May 20, 2016, West was ordered to stay in Washoe County Jail until his trial. West’s attorney David Houston argued his client has health issues that are not being addressed in jail and he needs to be released for treatment.

The US government sent a response to West’s motion to be released from jail before his trial saying the “defendant’s motion should be denied.”

West, Dr. Robert Rand, and seven others are accusing of operating an illegal prescription drug ring out of Rand's family practice and the Jones West Ford dealership in Reno. West has pled not guilty to all charges against him include distribution and possession of oxycodone.

His trial is set for July 19, 2016.
