ELKO, Nev. (KOLO)-- A narcotics investigation in Elko County has led to the arrest of two Elko men on a variety of sex crime charges.

Brandon Evans, 22, was arrested on eight counts of lewdness with a child younger than 16, one count each of child pornography, luring a child or person of mental illness, open and gross lewdness and two counts of sexual assault, the Nevada Department of Public Safety reports. Evans was booked into the Elko County jail on $3 million bail.

Jake Vega, 46, was arrested for luring a child or person of mental illness and four counts of open and gross lewdness. Vega was booked into the Elko County jail on $40,000 bail.

The Elko Combined Narcotics Unit was investigating an unrelated case in February 2018 when it found this case, DPS said. The defendants are alleged to have lured a child younger than 18 to perform sexual activity and they allegedly used digital media to exchange sexual images. On Tuesday, ECNU served search warrants at four homes and two businesses at the same time and made two arrests. DPS said more charges are expected to be filed.

Anyone with information is asked to call the ECNU tip line at 775-777-3673.

ECNU was assisted in the case by the Elko Police Department, Elko County Sheriff’s Office, DPS Investigation and Parole and Probation Divisions and the US Homeland Security Investigations.
