RENO, Nev. (KOLO) There's going to be a new 4A northern champion in boys basketball this season.
Reno beat Carson 56-49 in a rematch of last year's regional championship. Drew Rippingham led the Huskies with 19 points. Jayden DeJoseph had a game-high 31 points for the defending champs, who's season came to an end on Tuesday night.
The third-ranked Huskies will face number two Galena in the northern semifinals. The Grizzlies got a double-double from Moses Wood in their 74-51 win over McQueen. Wood had a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Top-ranked Spanish Springs made it 15 wins in a row, routing Douglas 73-45. Jalen Townsell scored a game-high 21 points in the win. Marcus Loadholt added 17.
Fifth-ranked Bishop Manogue eliminated Reed 73-51. The Raiders played without Jeremy Ramos and Lincoln Turner; two of their best players this season.
Spanish Springs faces Bishop Manogue in the northern semifinals. The Cougars have not lost to a northern Nevada team since December 2nd, when they lost to the Miners 83-67.
Both semifinal games will be held at Carson high school on Thursday night. Reno vs. Galena at 5:30pm, followed by Spanish Springs vs. Bishop Manogue at 7:15pm
