DCSO Captain announces bid for Sheriff

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) Douglas County Sheriff's Office Captain Joe Duffy is announcing his candidacy for Sheriff of Douglas County.

Captain Duffy has been with the DCSO since 1995, starting as a deputy in the jail. He has served in various positions throughout his tenure, including as a K9 handler and on the SWAT team. Captain Duffy currently heads the Patrol Division.

According to a news release issued by the campaign, Captain Duffy is focused on responsive public safety for the citizens of Douglas County.

In November 2017, the Record-Courier reported current Sheriff Ron Pierini would not be running for a sixth term. He told the paper after 21 years as sheriff it is time to step down.
