RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Communities In Schools of Western Nevada is holding its second annual Cappy Hour fundraiser, partnering with Revision Brewing Company in Sparks for a night of fun Thursday, Feb. 22, from 6 – 9 p.m.
The evening will feature a gourmet dinner prepared by Butter + Salt Gatherings, unlimited craft beer from Revision Brewing Company, regional wine from Ayrael Vieux Winery, live music by Running with Ravens, and a silent auction. One hundred percent of proceeds from the evening will benefit the 3,500 at-risk Washoe County students served by CIS of Western Nevada, and help 2018 graduates offset costs associated with graduation.
What should be a time of celebration for graduates can turn stressful for low-income students, as costs associated with graduation can run up to $250 per student. College testing fees can cost up to $75, non-refundable college application fees can range from $45 to $75 and cap and gown rentals may be as high as $85. Additional associated costs can include clothing for job and admissions interviews.
“We’re happy to offer an event that supports our graduates who have worked so hard to get to this point, and allows our community to participate simply by attending and having fun,” said Auburn Harrison, executive director of CIS of Western Nevada. “A big ‘thank you’ to Revision Brewing and our event partners, whom so generously agreed to get involved with our cause.”
Tickets are $60 per person, and include dinner and unlimited craft beer and regional wine. Tickets and sponsorship packages can be purchased on the CIS of Nevada website, or by contacting Auburn Harrison at (775) 686-0758 or email@example.com.
