RENO, Nev. (KOLO)- Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada is asking the community to donate stuffed Christmas stockings for local children in need.
The stockings will be given out at the "Operation Stocking Stuffer" event December 17. The stockings will be going to children who are homeless, live in low-income housing complexes or in local motels or emergency shelters. 800 children are signed up, but so far they have only received 350 stockings.
Catholic Charities is asking for pre-filled Christmas stockings that include toys, treats, etc. They will be given to infants and teenagers. Donated stockings are asked to be labeled with the gender and age of the intended recipient.
Stockings can be dropped off at St. Vincent's Thrift shop at 500 East Fourth Street in Reno, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information click here. Toys, candy, and cash donations are also accepted and will be used to go towards empty stockings. The deadline for donations for the Operation Stocking Stuffer event is December 15.
Anyone who makes a donation for the event will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a 1-year membership to Double Diamond Athletic Club (valued at $1,500)
