Casteel hired as Nevada's defensive coordinator

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) Jeff Casteel has been hired as the new defensive coordinator at Nevada.

He held that same job at Arizona from 2012-2015. He also served as the Wildcats' linebackers coach.

Casteel has also been the defensive coordinator at West Virginia (2003-11). He coached the Mountaineers' linebackers (2002) and their defensive line (2001). Casteel was the defensive ends coach at UTEP (2000) and the associate head coach and the defensive coordinator at Shepard University, a division II school (1991-1999).

He replaces Scott Boone, who was the defensive coordinator at Nevada for the last three years. Ironically, Boone was just hired as Arizona's linebackers coach.
