CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Carson City Sheriff's Office was evacuated because someone took a grenade to the property Tuesday afternoon, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

A bomb squad from Tahoe-Douglas was called in to investigate, the scene is now clear.

Sheriff Ken Furlong says someone cleaning out a garage found the grenade and took it in for examination. He tells us the grenade had already been disabled.

The man who took the grenade will not face any charges because the sheriff's office does not believe the man intended to harm anyone.

NHP tweeted a photo of a grenade, saying, "If you come across something that looks like this in your garage.....DO NOT HANDLE IT or bring it to the Police Station. Call 911."
