RENO, Nev. (AP) - The lawyer for the manager of a Reno car dealership that was raided as part of a federal investigation into an illegal prescription drug ring is making another bid to get Richard West II released from jail pending a trial.

West and three of the other eight defendants are scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Reno at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden and agents for the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration also plan a news conference Wednesday afternoon to discuss their overall efforts to combat prescription drug trafficking.

Dr. Robert Rand, West and the other seven are accusing of operating a pill mill out of Rand's family practice and the Jones West Ford dealership in Reno. Last week, a judge ordered West held without bail.
