MARKLEEVILLE, Calif. (KOLO) - The California Highway Patrol has released the name of a woman killed in a crash Sunday.

Shortly before 5PM September 17, 2017, officers say 64-year-old Charleen Blackburn of South Lake Tahoe was riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on SR 88 and was slowing for the SR 89 junction to Markleeville, with the intention of making a left turn onto southbound 89.

Officers say another woman headed east on SR 88 in a Buick La Sabre approaching the junction at 50 to 55 miles per hour, arriving at the junction at about the same time. Blackburn made a turn across the eastbound lane directly into the path of the car driver, who hit her brakes, but didn't have time or distance to avoid the biker.

They collided, with Blackburn being thrown from the motorcycle onto the road. She was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno and pronounced dead.

CHP says injuries to the driver of the car were minor.

The crash is still under investigation.
