RENO, Nev. (KOLO) Dog owners will now have a place to unleash their four-legged pals in downtown Reno.
The new park on West Commercial Row has space for dogs of all sizes and running water in case your pet gets thirsty. They still need $50,000 to complete the park. The community can help by paying $200 to have their pets painted on the mural near the park.
"In the city of Reno, city of Sparks, Washoe County, there are only five dog parks, we have 450 thousand people living in the greater metropolitan area and we just keep growing. We need more of these dog parks," said Nathan Daniel, Executive Director for Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation.
For those concerned about the turf temperature and cleanliness of the park, Nathan tells us it won’t be a problem.
"There is irrigation here and every morning they get turned on and they wash everything that is left, and there is a lot of water here and it infiltrates right through the ground, so there is an active system for cleaning,” he says.
