RENO, Nev. (KOLO) The Reno National Championship Air Races are back for their 54th year at the Reno-Stead Airport.

The event runs through Sunday, September 17, and will feature races each day starting at 8 a.m. running until 5 p.m. each day.

The event is, and has been for some time, the last of its kind. And it’s an event that is very important to the economy of the Reno area.

“For the last three years we will have contributed about $250 million to the Reno Sparks Metropolitan area, so it’s a huge event,” said John Agather, Chairman of the Board at the Reno Air Racing Association.

If you don’t want to deal with parking in Stead, a number of casino shuttles are available via Peppermill, Atlantis, Eldorado, Grand Sierra Resort, and the Nugget.
