Presidential candidate Dr. Rand Paul performs free eye surgeries in Kentucky

PADUCAH, Ky. (WBKO) – Tuesday Senator Rand Paul returned to his profession of medicine and conducted cataract surgeries for Kentucky patients on a pro bono basis in Paducah.

Paul is among Republicans campaigning for President.

Sen. Paul worked alongside Dr. Barbara Bowers of Innovative Ophthalmology in Paducah this week to restore vision for the uninsured and visually impaired. They operated on two patients at the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Paducah.

"There is nothing more rewarding than using my skills as an ophthalmologist to give back to the community, and I believe I have an obligation as a surgeon to help those in need,” Paul said.
