GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (KOLO) - Crews from Sierra Front, BLM and East Fork Fire have contained a brush fire that broke out shortly after noon October 3, 2017. Investigators say someone accidentally started the fire with a chain saw.

Bureau of Land Management says the Cutter Fire burned about 1682 acres, and declared the fire contained Saturday night. The fire was northeast of the intersection of Highway 395 and Leviathan Mine Road, south of the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Highway 395 is open after being closed Monday between Riverview Drive in the Gardnerville Ranchos and SR 208 (Holbrook Junction, just north of Topaz Lake) in Douglas County during the firefight.
