RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - During the month of April, the Northern Nevada community can help grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses and save lives by donating blood with United Blood Services. With each blood donation at United Blood Services, donors receive points for prizes including T-shirts or movie passes through the online HERO Rewards Program. This April, blood donors can gift their points to Make-A-Wish® Northeastern California and Northern Nevada, doubling the impact of each lifesaving donation.
“Young patients receive new life through United Blood Services and Make-A-Wish®,” said Scott Edward, Donor Marketing and Communications Director with United Blood Services. “Many blood recipients are also wish recipients, and both avenues of hope are only made possible through the generosity of donors. We look forward to continuing our support of Make-A-Wish® and helping them grant even more wishes for children throughout Northern Nevada.”
“We are grateful for our partnership with United Blood Services in Nevada,” said Make-A-Wish President and CEO Jennifer Stolo. “Many of the children we serve through life changing wishes, receive life saving blood from United Blood Services. There is a natural connection between our charities and we are excited to be able to grant additional wishes to local children,” she added.
Participants who gift their HERO Reward points to Make-A-Wish® Northeastern California and Northern Nevada at the Reno and Sparks donor center locations can also receive a $10 gift certificate from Squeeze In, the diner with local locations in Reno, Sparks and Truckee, while supplies last. In 2017, United Blood Services blood donors stepped up in spectacular fashion by donating nearly $6,400 to Make-A-Wish® Northeastern California and Northern Nevada.
