Friends of Nevada Wilderness is set to host the conservation event of the season at the California Building in Idlewild Park on Friday, December 8th, for their eleventh annual Wilderness Wingding celebration.
The Wilderness Wingding is Friends’ chance to say thank you for all the great work accomplished by our volunteers, partners, and supporters in 2017. We’ve had a busy field season this year with 650 new and returning volunteers who donated $191,247 of in-kind labor, working diligently to protect and preserve America’s public lands in Nevada.
This community event is open to the public and the evening will provide a light dinner and refreshments, live music, great raffle prizes, a silent auction, and plenty of joy and merriment. There will also be an awards ceremony honoring the exceptional contributions made by this year’s outstanding volunteers, agency partners, and business partners.

Boy Scout Troop 35 & 15 Annual Christmas Tree Sales - Every year we hold a fundraiser for our Troop 35 & 15. The money is used to fund our troop operations such as monthly camping trips, participating in parades and sending the boys to summer camps. The boys learn skills such as cooking, camping, electronics, how to be good citizens, space exploration, etc. By exposing the scouts to many different career fields, they get a better idea of what is involved in each as well as learning many life skills such as map and compass.

REMSA Center for Prehospital Education, 400 Edison Way, Reno
Before you hit the road for the holidays, make sure your children are truly safe in the car. The Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA) is offering free car seat installation and inspection check point as part of its Point of Impact community outreach program.
REMSA’s Point of Impact program encourages parents to ensure their car seats are properly installed. A properly installed car seat can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent. When visiting the checkpoint, parents should bring their child(ren) and car seat(s) and schedule about 30-45 minutes; longer for more than one seat. Staff and volunteers will check for obvious defects and determine whether the car seat appears on a national recall list. In addition, they will check the installation, correct any problems and provide education on the proper use and installation of the car seat.
Car seat installations and checkpoints are by appointment only. To sign up, please visit http://remsaeducation.enrollware.com/schedule (Click on the Car Seat Inspection Link) and select an available time slot, or call (775) 858-5437 for more information.
