Healthy Parks Healthy People

As part of its Healthy Parks, Healthy People: Truckee Meadows initiative, Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, in partnership with Washoe County, is proud to present their Healthy Parks Healthy People 5K Fun Run/Walk and FREE Kids' Run at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.



The 5K (3.1 miles) Fun Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 21st and starts and ends at the Chinese Pagoda just west of the May Museum at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. Directly following the 5K at 10 a.m., is a free kids obstacle course at the start/finish line.

Through April 14th, run registration is $25.00. After April 14th, registration is $30.00. The Kids Obstacle Course is free, but parents must pre-register their children at the link above. T-shirts can only be guaranteed for those who sign up for the 5K before April 14th. Registration is available day of but will be cut off at 9 a.m. Run proceeds will benefit Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, a local, private nonprofit committed to raising awareness, appreciation, and stewardship of Reno and Sparks parks. “Indian Cooking” class by TMCC open to public

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is offering class on “Indian Cooking” in Reno, which is open to the public.

All are welcome to sign-up for “Indian Cooking” (FB124C/24972), four sessions class taught from 06-00 to 07-30 pm on Tuesdays, starting February 20, at Damonte Ranch High School, Room 117 (CA), 10500 Rio Wrangler Parkway, Reno 89521. Tuition is $79 plus a $20 materials cost.

Besides other things, this class will also teach Chicken Tikka Masala, reportedly one of the United Kingdom's most popular dishes; and Halwa, a favorite dessert in India and other countries.

Indian cuisine reflects about 5,000-years history of various groups & cultures interacting within the subcontinent. Staple foods eaten today in India are said to have been cultivated there since around 6,200 BCE.

The Wilbur D. May Museum is unmasking its latest interactive exhibition: Hall of Heroes. This exciting exhibition celebrates and explores the history and science behind some of pop culture’s favorite superheroes. See movie props, costumes, and memorabilia, and then put your own skills to the test to discover your superpowers. Hall of Heroes features dozens of interactive stations designed to test powers of the body, elements, mind, and more. Visitors of all ages will love this exhibit that combines science and science –fiction. Hall of Heroes also includes:
