A seminar on high desert gardening presented by nationally known garden designers, consultants and authors Scott Ogden and Lauren Springer Ogden highlight the evening’s events. The seminar will focus on the couple’s latest book, Waterwise Plants for Sustainable Gardens, and the discussion is expected to be full of information useful to home gardeners in northern Nevada.
Participants will also have the first chance to make purchases from the large variety of native and ornamental plants, vegetables, and trees that will be featured during the Annual May Arboretum plant sale the following morning.
Over the years the May Arboretum Society has raised money to fund improvements to the Arboretum. Arboretum Society President Kass Kirkham said that since this is the most important fundraising event of the year, they wanted to create something special that would appeal to garden lovers of all abilities.
A raffle and silent auction are also planned for the Party in the Garden. Refreshments include hors d’oeuvres prepared by the Hug High Culinary Arts Class and Hi Point Café along with wine, beer or non-alcoholic drinks.
The cost is $50 per person or $75 for Garden Party admission plus a signed copy of the book Waterwise Plants for Sustainable Gardens by Scott Ogden and Lauren Spring Ogden.
